@arguelloboy I needed something that uses .deb packages. I'm switching to Arch now - if I manage to get it to boot.
-
@arguelloboy I use Arch as my daily driver, but this is a baytrail laptop so I have to manually boot the installer from a custom compiled grub2 cli. Aparently some idiot at Intel/MS thought that putting 32-but EFI on a 64-bit device was a good idea.
So far I've managed to load initramfs, but I get that stupid /dev/loop0 error. -
What the heck, what the heck... Why can't you use grub? For EFI grub-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/GRUB/grub.cfg | that will get grub running. Then run the os.prober

@arguelloboy I can install grub properly when I have installed the OS, but I can't boot from the usb because I need 64-bit Linux and 32-bit GRUB. Since no distro wants to do that (for good reason), I copy a 32-but standalone grub file to the stick. Because I don't compile it every time with the cfg path for the specific distro, I just get a command line. I manually type in the boot commands and proceed as usual.
But for Arch, I can't mount the stick for installation because of some weirdness in the hardware (sdio is strange).
I'm going to copy the installer to the main storage and install from there. That should work... Maybe :D
