I've spent at least 20 hours helping people in this sub / reviewing websites, helping with feedback Friday... and soo many hours helping... and yet, I'm not allowed to make a post? I'm not "allowed" to offer them free content... so they can get more eyes... and then sell that attention to the highest bidder?
How much more of a loser do I have to be - to be allowed to help them make money?
This shit is depressing. -
IMO if you're not using reddit with a combination of disposable users and bots you're doing it wrong.
Had a user with 100k karma get shadowbanned circa 2014 and decided to take a more militarized approach to my information intake from there. -
@HiFiWiFiSciFi Oh, man! Yikes. (I HATE THEM)
I might have to go that route. It's such a fucking sham. They claim to be about community but basically won't let you post anything of value - and then they'll let anyone post their super conflicting ads if they pay. I actually just put a bunch of ads specifically on /learnprogramming because they banned me. Just to say - I got it there anyway... -
I remember posting a comment on Reddit, I think it was the PlayStation section. I was super new with zero “karma” and BOOM MODERATOR PM “NOT ENOUGH KARMA TO POST, COMMENT REVIEWED BY MODERATION”. Luckily it was restored after it was deleted, hours later of course. I posted again bc wtf are they just gonna ban my ass bc I’m new? You’d think everyone has to start somewhere right? If there’s a way to create a new account with a beefy karma score I’d like to learn how!

you need to realize that thinking of a reddit as a single monolith forum with a single monolith community is a mistake.
it's a collection of forums, each with its own communities and rules. the "minimum amount of posts before you can post here" is "minimum amount of posts on whole reddit before you can post to this sub", or "minimum amount of comments on posts in this sub, before you can add a whole post of your own."
but yeah, stop thinking of reddit as a single community, that helped me A LOT in getting it. -
@Midnight-shcode I’m definitely seeing it as the individual formed.

Which is why it’s so weird. I have contributed a lot to each. Is there a way to see sub specific Karma? I mean. I’m an adult man. I feel like I’m trying to beg the other kids to let me into their treehouse - and I brought cookies and root beer and they still won’t let me in. Hahaha. But mostly it’s just bots telling what I can’t do really.

Reddit... is so confusing to me. Can't post until you've posted enough... ok... I get it, like a green-card. I have to be in the US for 7 years before I can get a green-card, but I'm not allowed to be in the US. BUT
Seriously... answer me this:
What do I write here... if I want to ask the moderator a question? I've sent a bunch and I'm starting to think that it is my fault. I'm not going to lead the witness here: just please explain it to me.
Will this send it to all of the mods? Do I need to pick 1 mod and put their name there? Please... help me understand. This just shuts my brain off when I read it.
