Yeah, I know all that. Most of the time the security policies are set in such a dumb way that you cannot really work no matter what. If, I say If I am lucky, the client allows me to install a Linux box from one of their age old totally unusable Linux VM templates. Then I can compile my own Emacs or vim with all the plugins. ^^
