p100sch14494yGood lesson about a very sad state of affairs. Always take credit for everything you do and always expect your execs tu throw you under the bus if they see an opportunity.
Very sad. I hope you find a better job soon. -
You seem to be under the mistaken impression your 12 hour days and going "above and beyond" is somehow buying you loyalty at wherever you're working.
If your company cared about you, they'd be constantly on at you to not work 12 hour days because of burnout. They'd be mandating you take holidays, and they'd be giving you huge bonuses and raises whenever you went above and beyond in this way.
If you really want to work that much, don't give it to the company for free. Work on side projects and such in the evenings, write a book, build your own business, whatever. Just don't go on in life thinking that the more you work, the better your standing. You'll just be seen as useless the moment your work output drops, even if it drops to an above average level. -
donozone374ySome of the red flags of toxic companies so far are employee burnout, lack of proper growth guidelines, Lack of planning, always having scope creeps, no work-life balance.
Most of these I try to avoid. After all, at the end of the day, the company will choose itself, so learn to prioritize self and separate work and personal engagements. -
jeeper58104yIf you don’t own it don’t be putting in that kinda work. Also what country is this? In the west if they fired you for being sick during Covid there might be legal retribution to be had.

gitbranch1Bloody Fucking Managers !!!! Few Months Back... Manager: Innovation we need Innovation. Me: What's the proces...
Let's start the story with just a bit of a background: I'm coming from a rather poor family so I always saw my parents working 24/7 to, you know, have a decent future. When I first got into the IT industry, I went full workaholic and worked overtime every day, taking other responsibilities etc. Got promoted fast, jumped through 3 companies, and all is good.
Present day company:
- I'm working 12 hour days
- Managing smaller teams and interns
- Starting new projects incognito and giving them to the execs (for the good of the company ofc)
- Doing lots of stuff outside my responsibilities
COVID hits, I get very sick 2 month ago... I get laid off??? I'm literally 5 employees in one, and, "the fact that I got sick means that I left home and wasn't working"???
This also comes at a time when every family member was also laid off so I had the only stable job.
Not even sure if I even have the will to work hard for someone else anymore, this is fucked up.
