If someone asks me in the interview if it's height or heigth, I'll fail for sure.

My mom told me once how to remember it (in german, maybe you can use it anyway): gerda holt tomaten.

In english it means something like gerda gets tomatoes. (Gerda being a german name)

@electrineer Agreed. At least as much as "Gerda holt tomaten". But this is a christian website, sir.

@pipe christian gays can hold tentacles too

everytime i encounter length i think about the word height ending on t (kinda switching the X and Y axis i'm switching the t and the h)

you could also memorize it by how length starts and ends and height starts and ends.
putting them next to each other t and l should match (since they look similar) and h are next to each other as you see here:

    length height length

@domfoo are you telling me it's height not heigth?
  • 2
@domfoo Indeed, if it was heigth, it would pronounced with that weird "ffff" sound like in "tooth". Whereas if it's height, it's pronounced with the same sound as in right.

@pipe but how can you remember which sound it's supposed to be? Let's compare related words. Width, breadth, length, heigth... oh crap.

An alternative spelling used to be heighth, and some people probably pronounced it that way back in the day.
