Do not touch Salesforce.

Especially Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

It is a fucking joke this product even exists. Buy Hubspot instead. Marketing Cloud is the single worst piece of software I have had to implement out of 4 years working in software and a lifetime working in tech.

Literally nothing works. You click a button and bam, nothing. The UI actively lies to the user. Nothing is guaranteed to work and support is some guy in India who shrugs his shoulders and walks away. Things will randomly break and warning messages are tiny, indecipherable babble that mean nothing.

If you are dev, walk away. If you are a potential customer, walk away. This company DESERVES a bad reputation for the absolute heap of dogshit that is Marketing Cloud.

The worst part is that it's likely going to affect my job and my career because of how fucking dogshit it is.

Fuck Salesforce in case the messaging isn't clear.

    Ah, every time I read a rant about Salesforce it makes me very happy to have left that world behind.

    I fuck it daily.

    Marketing cloud is the least of your potential issues.

    I’ve been a dev for 4 years and all I know about salesforce is that they have a massive ass skyscraper in The Valley and that they own slack and heroku.

    They sound like another shitty service based software company desperately trying to stay relevant with its piles of garbage products

    @10Dev yes and no.
    Yes they are a massive software company trying to stay relevant, and buy up everything and anything they can turn into their own cash stream one way or another, their platform isn't built for mass scale without a lot of fuckery, over optimised code and configurables, and hooking into 3rd party systems, add massive plugins that have their own eco system and pitfalls, or extend through Salesforce "clouds", and at some point you literally hit their 10 foot concrete slab of a wall with their system limits and want to cry in a fucking corner trying to rework half the system with now managed plugins you can't edit and need to optimise your own work to make their shit work again.

    But.... on the flip side, if you can get this thing to scale up and work for your company, it's an amazing product to work with, until they (Salesforce or add-on companies) release the next major upgrade and you deal with the 1000's of changes that may or
    may not directly or indirectly break or change the way you expect the system to behave.

    But in that small period of time where everything is just running and your high on self reflection, it's a wonderful thing, I live for that high, I hate the process to get there though.
