I broke it for a weekend. I noticed on the Monday and fixed it. No one ever said a thing.

Monitoring must not be "realtime".

Usually data is collected in fixed intervals and only after exceeding a certain threshold there is an alarm...

Otherwise you would be spammed to death.

10 secs is a really short period of time.
