Helped dad around the house yesterday. It made me feel a tad less depressed, until this morning when I looked at job ads again. 😒

    @theKarlisK oh, that's not the issue. I even meet their criteria for Santa's wishlist. The problem is that they're all depressing. Or maybe it's because I can read between the lines. Idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    @NoMad it's probably asshole companies, is it? The ones you don't want to work for, or they want indeed their own Santa without the proper compensation for a Santa.

    @NeatNerdPrime either way, I need a job ASAP. This is no fun. Can't wait for a good opportunity, have to grab whatever comes first.

    aren't you a phd candidate?

    @AleCx04 not yet. Applications haven't opened yet and I haven't received my degree yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    @NoMad i was trying to get with that. Do you have experience in the field or has it been purely academic? Note: I am not shitting on you for it, nor do I have some fucky notion about degrees, i think it is amazing that you reached them heights, but for what I am thinking it might help understand your side a bit better.

    You see, if you reach phd levels, or even master levels, with NO experience whatsoever on the field, then it seems that you are poising yourself for research level jobs (which are still hard to get) or being a uni level teacher only.

    @AleCx04 it's a funny thing going for ML. You can't start off with it. Yeah I do have a few years of industry experience, but it's not in AI/ML which is the field I did my masters in and want to stay in. (My experience was in backend dev, mixed with other shit cuz the company had a "flat structure" meaning nobody knew shit and everybody was responsible for shit)

    @NoMad You'll gonna get this.

    First time is always hard. Especially as the first job is mostly a "please I need to fill this line in my curriculum vitae" instead of "i want to do this job".

    :) Don't get depressed...*hug*

    @NoMad maybe a long shot, but since you have asanta-level expertise:

    @NeatNerdPrime lol. I wouldn't call myself an expert, I'm more of a guy who has tried a bit of a lot.

    That's an interesting initiative. I'll read more about it later.
