how you guys handled being slow on delivering a task ?

Overtime😅 I hate being late so i make sure im not late..
Management will appreciate it (of they’re competent)

Either I'm slow because I got other, more urgent tasks in between, in which case I announce risk of delay as soon as I get these tasks. Except ofc if I see that I can do them quickly anyway.

Otherwise, I tend to create buffers without reporting. E.g. if I'm done faster than expected, I secretly work on subsequent items. If I then need longer for other things, nobody will notice.

Very rarely, I resort to overtime, and then only for a few days while slacking that off quickly. Like if I want to close something before I go into holidays so that no co-worker will have to dive into half-done stuff.

I just get stressed about it which lowers my productivity and makes me later

@NeatNerdPrime def agreed. Working with customers I realized communication is king. Almost always deadline is not really a deadline.
