@C0D4 honestly we couldn't find any decent enough c or asm devs so we rewrote the whole thing in NodeJS and the mouse barely moves but at least it's on a modern tech stack

Rumors are they plan to rename it to "X OS", so it sounds more like both, their main source of design ideas and their most appreciated product...

I guess i've lost a touch with regular user a long time ago if one of the features per early reviews is "some of the best built-in wallpapers Windows has ever had."

What Microsoft should have done is stopped at ten and focused on features.

From there they should have pivoted *hard* back to an acquisitions phase,focused more on new software and hardware companies.

Stipulations would be, majority in stock or other options, and not cash, and owners or core team would have to stay on for so long before cashing out.

This way Microsoft could use it's pile of cash to develop it's software offerings and expand its non-os non-office cash flow.

If monopoly and cloud are kingmakers, it makes logical sense to follow adobes strategy: buy and hold major software, slightly improve them, and tie them down with recurring fees or a big upfront payment, or a free vs paid option, and give people the option to bundle. This makes it "value added" (harder for customers to escape) because the more software they rely on the harder it is for them to give up one and go to a competitor, without giving up on all the rest.

In other words, be glad it's not worse.

@Wisecrack I think they are investing in PR, which is why they "love open source" (none of their plugins work with an unsigned build of vscode) and "embrace Linux" (Windows wipes any ext partition it can get its paws on at boot). They don't want to use known greedy strategies when they can play seemingly fair and look good.

@homo-lorens they're investing in PR to the detriment of cashflow.

My guess is whoever made that decision is a midwit (110-115 iq) like me. Only difference here is all of us have the benefit of seeing their mistake.
