Open source software repositories don't deserve contributors like JamesCrook. It's a shame, really, that maintenance befalls on them.

    @24th-Dragon what's telemetry?

    @vintprox yes, went through that. Needed a dumb down version.

    @Floydimus they hot-headedly resorted to the convenience of Google and Yandex analytic services, which backfired. Then the kind lead switched to self-hosted server for gathering telemetry, that makes detailed crash reports transferred directly to them. Sounds like a smart and delicate move, right?

    And then there is a d*** called JamesCrook that closed the recent issue about Audacity blocking users under age 13 (violation of GNU GPL), without any valid reason. This act so pissed me off, that I'm ready for community fork any second if JamesCrook either doesn't appologize or doesn't get relieved of maintenance.

    @24th-Dragon @vintprox now I get this.

    Thanks guy. You people are awesome as always when it comes to helping me understand tech. I have learned so much from this community.

    Some self hosted telemetry seems potentially entirely reasonable.

    Off-topic, but when I find about Audacity forks, I find a fork that has been attacked by trolls so bad that the contributors and maintainer have to lock the 2 GitHub threads where they ask about voting a name for the fork because some people just being off-topic and spam. (Right now that fork repo is still named Audacity).
