Is my country the only one with a mandatory fucking 3 month notice? Come on it can't be the only one.

    It's not the only one. You could shit onto your boss' desk to be let go immediately. Or maybe take his wife to a romantic dinner.

    @N00bPancakes Usually works in both directions: You can't be fired quickly, but also have a notice period.

    @sbiewald

    Yeah I worked for a company that had offices in another country that type of rule applied to. We were acquired and:

    It was a mess. They wanted to keep some people so they offered them a job at the new company. They weren't going to take the offer but had 6 months to decide, after that they somehow had 6 months until their job ended.

    Dude's made life as much of a bitch for everyone else as they could for 12 months... including to those of us being let go too...

    It was horrible.

    @Angry-dev Depends why someone wants to change a job.
    If I change the job to move to my family but otherwise like the current work, I am still very motivated in the time.

    It also gives enough time for the employer to demand to finish documentation as the legal obligations of the contract still do apply. If the employee comoletely refuses to work, the employer can still fire him/her immediately (though doing this in three months might be hard, as laws might require warnings).

    Are you in France ? if not then no, it's not the onl;y country

    @sbiewald but if employee wants to be fired, then he will not use the law to defend him as I understand. He could sign a document where he accepts firing without notices , etc.
