Is it just me, or does anyone miss logging into a Unix/Linux machine, doing a 'w' or 'who' and seeing a long list of folks all using the machine simultaneously? I still reflexively run 'who' as soon as I log into any real or virtual Unix or Linux machine and I am still slightly disappointed to find I'm all alone on it.

No one to /usr/bin/talk to, eh?

I still `w` when I login to a public access Unix system I've been using for years. Not sure why, though, as I haven't really interacted with anyone else on there for a long time (the users I knew are probably long gone).

I always check, though they're production machines so it's for peace of mind 😌
