It was like 9/11 at work this morning. Someone had clicked a link yesterday that recursively encrypted our entire file system. Thank god for backups.

And that's how you got your ass saved. Now raise an issue.

Delt with the same thing at a now new client a couple weeks ago. Not fun, their "backups" were on an external drive on the same server that got hit. Got super lucky with them was able to find a tool that actually brute forced the key and unencrypted their system.. Let's just say them and I had a long chat and a lot of things changed around there..
