Starting a new project:

1.Think of a new/exciting idea

2.Start imagining and planning in my head

3.Start working on my idea

4.Give up mid-way

5. Get depressed

6. Get back at it way behind schedule and still not complete it

7. Go back to step 1 except that's basically how I start something new and not just a project :)

I think at some point we have to just accept that we all do this. It's far, far rarer to find someone with more than one finished personal project than it is to find someone with a graveyard folder called 'projects' with 100 sub-folders.

If you enjoyed it, or you learned anything in the process, it's not a total waste of time. Doesn't mean it isn't a bummer though, I hear you.

Return to it 4 years later because you still think it's a good idea.

Get bored 2 hours in to doing it, remembering why you gave up on it in the first place.

Before starting a new project you have to be rational and be positive and be practical, These make you a more result-oriented person.
