atheist97893yI mean... I went and had a look at what was said. You complained nobody engaged with a generic question (that would have been immediately rejected from, say, stack overflow) by accusing everyone here of being angry. So, yes you were a little rude. If you have a problem, ask. If you're looking for mentoring, ask for that. If you want to vent about work, do that too. That said, we all have our own lives, be respectful of our time and space.

Hazarth94763yThe issue really is that you asked if you can ask instead or just asking.
We employed people here are sick of that because we deal with people like that on daily basis. Getting a "can I ask you something" from a colleague, manager or a client is incredibly frustrating to most of us. It's a pointless step that wastes our time and we are forced to engage in a friendly manner despite not knowing what the conversation is about.
In my opinion it's manipulative to ask if you can ask, because what answer do you expect?
If we say no, you can get immediately upset about how entitled we are, and how we don't even know what you were gonna ask... So in working environment the only real answer is "yes"... Which makes it a manipulative question enforcing compliance using peer/hierarchy pressure...
DevRant is the only place we can actually be honest about this.
That's at least why Im allergic to the question... I love helping people, but I can't stand being manipulated into answers -
C0D4669533yCan I ask a serious question @charlotteli?
What was your expectations of this place when you signed up?
And why set that expectation? -
People only got *really* pissy with you after you told @UnicornPoo to "keep it shut and let other experts help beginners out".
As others have said, this site isn't really designed for people to ask for programming help. There's Reddit communities that are a much better choice for that. It's designed for professional devs to have a place to rant and vent. Now sometimes we *do* help out with specific questions if people ask very nicely, but if you start demanding or antagonising others, then you're not going to get great responses - as is true for any online community (especially those you're new to.) -
Don't take the reactions personally. It's about the style of your message, not particularly the actual content. Ask questions, make comments, get involved in the community discussions, but don't come into this place believing you are owed anything, including answers, but anyone else.
The devs are reacting to the situation created, not the person who created it. You don't have to leave, no one will even care. We put up with Jase and his many personalities, so I bet we'll be more than welcoming of your own as well. Once you stop wasting time by asking to ask questions. -
Also, JS is rather offensive to me just in general, so I appreciate that apology but it was unnecessary.

Well, I'm done.
This amount of arrogance is unbelieveable.
I'd rather find a warm and friendly atmosphere.
But honestly, what are all these F bombs about?
Did I insult you? I said I was stuck in a Loop challenge in Js. Did this offend you?
If so, I'm sorry.
