I really hate that smart people are the worst kind of cultists. This means that people who do some pretty cool and novel stuff fall for things like Musk-fanboyism, NFT and other crypto BS, or things like outright fascistoid ideas about "MSM"-conspiracies, race-ideology or IQ... And I hate it.

Smart people who think they have "figured it out" are the most dangerous people out there. Especially if they have any kind of rethorical skills.

    @hobblin yeah I think @hitko is right, they're one or two tiers lower. Thinking you know a lot is dumb, knowing how much you don't is smart IMHO.

    I really dislike stupid people that believe what the MSM says. Those are the worst.

    @Demolishun fine to mistrust the media, logical even - trouble is that most people who say "MSM" really mean "news I don't like", they're quite happy to get it from Fox or wherever else massages their preconceptions.

    I understand the point you are making but I would expand how you define what a smart person is.

    To me a smart person is willing to be open minded and engage in good faith debate if they disagree. A stupid person will just yell over you.

    @thomas66777 by smart i mean people who are capable of developing and processing complex reasonings. But yeah, that's probably not a helpful usage of "smart"
