Reason #69 why I'm considering nuking windows on my main pc.

I had to print something... (I know, why would I want a document to exist in the physical world?)
1. The pc couldn't see the printer, that was connected via USB... Replugging the cable fixed it... How?
2. I had to print images, so I had pre-opened the 9 files. After printing 4 images windows decided to update the imageviewer, closing all the instances and not open them again... Wtf?

So that's how my evening was fucked, how was yours?

    I wouldn't know, I haven't owned a printer for over 8 years.

In most cases Linux wouldn't even connect to the printer because the firmware and drivers are proprietary and shit or nonexistent. I'm a big Linux fan, but the printer market is still structured like a startup, building on top of known tech in whatever way seems easiest and locking down everything so that they alone get to and have to work on compatibility.
