I'm curious about your thoughts on why Scala and Kotlin turned out bad.

I’m curious, too. For each language, why did they, in your mind, turn out to be bad? Also, why did you even think Haxe or Swift would be good? Also, what in your mind makes a language good or bad?

I'm also interested in your opinion about first three, especially why you categorize them as bad and not just okay but over hyped or something similar.

There's one to add to the list , "objective c"

@johnmelodyme no one ever thought that was a good language…

@johnmelodyme I did that once, and it's the only regret I have.

📌for structured opinions on why these are bad.

christ Haxe. I had to rifle through someone's Haxe code a few years back. I had no idea what was going on, seemed like a completely pointless thing to use.

    for me:
    Turbo Pascal
    Visual Basic
    AS1, AS2, AS3,
    Flex
    Shockwave!!
    Drupal

Now I'm using Laravel, Flutter and good old JS(OG)

Only one I don't know is Haxe,

The other ones aren't bad I think?
Swift: objective c was a nightmare, it improved it. Tho swiftui (iirc) is a fuckup you don't need to use it
Scala: superfast and perfect for Spark. Syntax did not change so can't see how it got worse

    @ojt-rant I loved visual basic...
But at least on vb6 I had a bunch of hacks to make it work properly, but after that was so easy...
Btw my installs were 2.2mb, not the default 170 mb minimum (I used custom dB tables since default ones suck)

BTW hinst Droped the bomb and is just watching :p
    Mine would be Pascal.
Even with Lazarus it's not very useful.
