How would you feel if you're about to finish and release your hard work which you've been coding for years and suddenly the electricity cut on you and you have no VCS?

You're kinda asking for it.

I don't start a project without VCS and there's daily backups on everything for this exact reason. The gut wrenching feeling of loosing months let alone years of work would be soul crushing.

You should feel stupid because that's stupid. But data saved in non-volatile memory is not volatile anyway.

I used to play with the power switch under my desk with my feet while doing stuff. Not a good idea I tell ya.

i would feel like "damn, i'll have to retype the last 5-10 minutes, how annoying"
