I`m new to coding. So i`m also new at ranting.

I know i have something to rant about. But my nerd culture is just not yet at the level.

I have been taught by a mate to used linux and started vanilla javascript. We use intellj as IDE.

So i have to speak to this client whose previous IT provider was gonna code his thing with ASP and visual studio!!!
Right?! WTF?!!! But that`s all i got!!!!

Im pretty sure its a wtf?! But i don`t have the rock solid reasons why.

Please ranters help me become better at rantong and tell me i`m not wrong and why ;)

Uh.... Well ASP.net is apart of Microsoft's .Net framework, and VS was also created by MS for the .Net framework so... What's wrong exactly? Seems fair to me

Intellij is designed for java development.....

Java != (is not equal to) JavaScript

In fact java is to JavaScript like car is to carpet

Microsoft != Bad

Go make your own opinions you just heard "wawa ms is shit, asp sucks, wawa use open source Linux because everything else is bad.... except macs. Every programmer should run mac and Code his shit in javascript"

In that regard: don't listen to others, experience it and then decide

Asp.net snd C# is my preferred platform for most development.

Most who complain about it does so either on old merits, out of ignorance, or for "religious" reasons ;)

I have used php, java, pascal, basic, perl, f#, some Cobol, c (not c++), bash (yes, wrote a multithreaded script to do back end stuff for a site), javascript and probably some I forgot and I have built for both windows, linux and msdos and I still prefer C#.

But that is still my own preference and my recommendation is to never judge any language until you have at least a basic experience with it in a real setting.

Lol all good. Im not against negatove comments. As i said im newbie. Yes im hanging out with linux people who crap on windows. Good to have feedback regardless of how uninformed was my comment :)

@nbamaral well i am not to fond of perl. Its powerful but hard to read.

But we once had a shopping basket that used a perl backend and a java applet for the client side.

I replaced the front end with javascript but since we did not have the source I had to map out the communication through the perl script.

it's OK, everyone in devrant seems to hate it too, I'm like a dinosaur.
I've built, maintain and tweak a lot of tools that rely on it, and really enjoy it for it's speed and conciseness, it could be more readable yes.
