Recruiter: Hello I’m recruiting for an exciting opportunity at a rapidly growing company with loads of potential

Dev: *Looks up company on google*

Dev: Their stock has been declining for the past 2 years. 3 months ago their valuation just dropped by 80%…. How are they growing?

Recruiter: Oh that happened to every company at the end of 2021.

Dev: …I guarantee you it did not.

Recruiter: …

The recruiter actually gave you the name of the company ?

That must be a rookie mistake...

All the ones I get are 'rapidly growing company in your area' or in an area that is like 1-2 hours of driving :/

It can be a rapidly growing company and still be a shit place to work at. But yeah, a rapidly declining company is most likely not a place where you’d want to set foot

I'm interviewing because the pay sucks -- and your opening line makes me die inside.

@Grumm that has the same appeal as the "hot chicks that want to fuck in your area" don't think you catch much developers with that anymore. Better to make false claims and hope they don't fact check...

@hjk101 agree, but in the case of this rant, any futur contact will be false.

For me, if a recruiter make a false claim once, he is done. And I will ignore all messages.
