Ironic scientific discovery 50 years from now:
Artificial Intelligence cannot happen by accident.

    Why ironic?

    @iiii Because of theories that depend upon anti-entropy to be a thing.

    I mean, it's not wrong. It's literally in the name.

    "Artificial" intelligence.

    Anything artificial in nature cannot have a spontaneous genesis, it must be created by something else.

    If we are successful in creating artificial life, it will successfully be the most damaging and dangerous achievement in the entire universe.

    Imagine the culture and destructive ideology of the human race. Now imagine it's no longer bound by time and space.

    AI as a tool can help us grow as a society, but there should be limits as to what it's used for.

    @sariel I am uncertain that we are not "artificial" ourselves. But that ends up being a chicken and the egg paradox.

    @Demolishun you're not wrong but let's assume you're right.

    When does something that has artificial origins become organic and sentient?

    I'm looking at those fracking skin jobs in particular.

    @sariel Is "artificial" human talk for "not us"?

    Self aware? Ability to communicate? Create language? Maybe different levels of sentience. What does self aware encompass? I feel like I have more questions than any sensible answers.

    @Demolishun is that because it's a failsafe that's built into our psyche to ensure that we just continue asking questions instead of answering them?

    @sariel Why is Batman one word, Iron Man two words, and Spider-Man two words with a hyphen?

    The really deep questions.

    For some, self awareness is the difference between before and after the first coffee of the day :)
