!rant I finished crocheting the capelet I was working on. Not too bad for a first attempt, I think!

    Good job, learning a new skill is always a good idea, especially if burnout hits in any other part of life.

    though, this should probably be under the 'random' tag. This is not what I expect when filtering by 'rant', tsk tsk tsk....

    @Hazarth But it’s a stooorryyyyy and the rant tag is for rants/stories 😅

    Oh my God I need one!
  • 4
    @Hazarth But I’ll use the random tag next time for you, friend.

    @AmyShackles xD maybe if the story was longer? This remind me more of a microblog, like on twitter. That being said, I didn't even know that 'capelet' was a thing! So you get a ++ for teaching me a new word xD

    @Hazarth I didn’t either until I went looking for crochet patterns lol

    @Hazarth we should bring back undefined.

    Capelet... I was thinking so hard "wtf is a kah-puh-let is that some kind of French fashion thing"

    OOOH capelet as in little cape 🤦‍♀️

    Can I put in an order for a crochet suit with long sleeves which goes from toes to head like a jumpsuit. The capelet looks comfy, but my whole body is cold.

    That's awesome! Good job :)

    @bittersweet my brain is now trying to work out the Romeo and Juliet connection... 😂

    @atheist

    To Juliet's credit, in Capulet's chalet she carried crocheted capelets. 🤷‍♀️

    Ugh I hate what cognac does to my brain

    Are you accepting orders?

    what differs a capelet and a poncho? 🤔
  • 1
    @darksideofyay

    In this case, nothing.

    A poncho is a piece of cloth with a hole in it to stick your head through...

    Some terms were invented by the fashion industry to sound fancy....

    A capelet is usually open in the front, you can close it e.g. with buttons - so you don't have to pull it over your head like a poncho, but rather wear it like a short jacket.

    @IntrusionCM

    I also think a Poncho is usually longer, pretty much like a sleeveless, annoying sweater which is really trying to keep you from using your arms.

    A capelet is just covering the neck, shoulders and upper arms, to protect you from enemies who attempt attacks with crocheted swords.

    @IntrusionCM

    Hmm now I kind of want crochet bracers and shoulderplates, and little woolen daggers to gently stab my coworkers with 🤔

    @bittersweet Yes, a poncho is usually very long, longer than a capelet.

    Though it has more to do with protection from weather... At least it used to be xD

    Either from the sun / rain / wind, as the undergarments then stay dry and you don't fucking freeze your arse off...

    But the woolen knight sounds fun. Count me in xD

    @fruitfcker Nope. I don’t want my hobbies to turn into a job. Selfish, I know.😅

    @jespersh Purple’s my favorite color too. I feel like it’s the only color that I like every shade of — which is SO NOT TRUE of other colors

    @bittersweet Not taking orders, friend. Besides, just because I can follow a pattern doesn’t mean I have any idea of how to make clothes sans pattern. 😂

    @Nanos I used a Susan Bates aluminum hook for this Susan Bates 5-1/2-Inch Silvalume Aluminum Crochet Hook, 9mm, Blue https://amazon.com/dp/B001RLDBYS/... Honestly, I think the hook shape is less of a factor depending on the type of yarn you’re using. Some yarn’s way easier to use than others.

    Thanks for the positive encouragement, friends. ❤️

    @AmyShackles the susan bates hooks actually have a different shape than most hooks, and I think they hold the yarn better, but it takes some getting used to. The hook part is deeper and less rounded.
