    Coffeine isn't bad.

    Energy drinks are bad.

    @IntrusionCM isn’t that because of the sugar though? Cuz gfuel doesn’t have any and is basically just caffeine and a ton of flavors afaik

    @petergriffin

    The problematic part is usually the composition.

    Sugar free doesn't mean a thing.

    Artificial sweeteners still lead to an insulin production and work as addictive as regular sugar and are included in - I think - every energy drink cause they would otherwise taste like crap.

    Artificial sweeteners are know to cause bowel problems, as most of the known artificial sweeteners cannot be digested at all.

    Many energy drinks have added vitamins... The thing is - unless you have a very very very very fucked up diet or suffer from country specific "deficits" (e.g. low UV radiation), it's hard to fuck up your nutrient levels so bad that you'll need supplements...

    ... on the other hand it's very easy to fuck up your nutrient levels if you add supplements on a daily basis. :)

    To give the simplest example based on smoothies: you wouldn't eat 6 apples, 2 carrots and a handful of berries all at once.

    But you do exactly that when you drink a smoothie.

    In a nutshell, corporate greed sells you a nice health package with the known problem that it's unhealthy.

    @IntrusionCM I agree on most of it, however there are specific nutrients that most people, at least in some regions, lack. Iodine is a prime example, where sometimes everyone of a population suffered from iodine deficiency, it is the reason why add iodine to salt. A other example is B12, which many people >50 can't absorb properly.
