What desktop do you like for Linux? Looking at budgie and kde. I used gnome and unity way back but didn't care much for either.

    Hmmmm… back then, when I was distrohopping. I’d like kde, xfce, the one from elementary os or plain gnome.

    Xfce or cinnamon. Xfce needs a little configuring to get it the way I want, but cinnamon is fine out of the box

    I use Arch btw 😂😂

    Cinnamon - because it's a no-nonsense, classic desktop, and I can trust the Mint team not to try any sort of crazy "desktop revolution".

    bspwm + polybar + rofi

    Back in my Gentoo days, about twenty years ago, I loved waimea and especially its downstream fork kahakai. The latter is gone now, though someone ported waimea to amd64 and put it in the AUR. I think I should try it again.

    I switched constantly for a while before settling on KDE. Mostly because (at the time) it was one of the few DEs that could properly handle 150% DPI scaling. Other DEs have gotten better since then but I stuck with KDE.

    That's for my desktop PC though. I use i3 on my laptop.

    @zlice

    I was intrigued by the whole thing, and I was convinced my system was faster for having been compiled locally, though I could never actually point to any real metrics. I loved its implementation of init scripts as well, and the portage package manager was like nothing I'd ever seen. Well now I've used pacman, and nothing else compares.

    I think I stopped using Gentoo because my system would just break after a year or two, and the only solution I could manage at the time was a reinstall.

    Xfce because I own a 2012 laptop but with a featherweight desktop it's fine.

    I love KDE, but it's not very popular.

    Cinnamon is quite popular though

    @Hazarth

    Is this tongue in cheek? Because KDE is exceptionally popular.

    @bahua Is it? Everywhere I go and look people bash KDE :/

    Xfce at home, Gnome3 at work. Used to Gnome2 and then mate and Switched for i reason I forgot. I hate all of them.

    @lbfalvy I threw Cinnamon on a 2009 laptop, and it's fine. Sure, all desktop effects disabled, and it has 3GB RAM.
