I love my Model M keyboard.
What kind of switches has your main keyboard which you use for coding? (Cherry MX <color>/ Rubberdome/Model M, ...)

rubber. i hate mechanical keyboards. the are so awfully loud - even the "silent" ones.

I had kailh browns/rk87 keyboard, but replaced it with clicky romer-gs/g915 for better connectivity and less wrist pain. It's terribly overpriced, but i found great offer at around 1/3 of official price in local electronic store - it was after repair.
Works great so far, and i like low profile switches more.

A cheap MS keyboard without fancy shit like lighting or macros.

    Something something low profile tactile
    Keychron K3 keyboard

Rubber dome with some strange lever mechanism that's standard for Lenovo laptop keyboards. I've never used a good keyboard but this is the best I've had so far and it's extremely durable.

Rubber but with a bit of clicky noise. Dont want that noisy mechanical but still want a little bit clicky

@lbfalvy The best keyboards i have encountered in laptops were in older thinkpads. Current ones are good when compared to competitors, but lost a lot (worse layout, smaller keycaps and about 1/3 of travel).
Overhead led was replaced by normal back light which is good.

@zlice In my case it indicates code quality.

@Lensflare i have a MS keyboard too, it has even less fancy shit since some keys started to fail gradually.

@impune-pl I own a Y510P released in 2012, I have no idea what they've been doing the past 10 years.

@electrineer of all the keyboards that I had (about 15€), I found that MS keyboards take the longest time before they start to fail.

@Lensflare maybe I bought too expensive one then, it's the only keyboard I've had that broke.

@Lensflare Logitech k120 is pretty much indestructible

@Nanos You know that you can buy a new Model M from Unicomp?

I use a Logitech Deluxe 250 with silicone membrane switches and laser-engraved caps.

I am pretty satisfied with the quality, robustness and tactile feel and would definitely buy it again.

@electrineer yup. The more it costs, the faster it breaks, sadly.
