Why are there people that still don't use the metric system? It is so stupid and cost so much.
We formally adopted the metric system about 150 years ago. Why are systems that where developed 100 years later still based on stupid units that are based human body parts that differ between each person?

What are you doing about it?

Cause water is heavy, and gets everywhere if you're not careful, and disappears if you leave it alone. Stupid.

What units are based on body parts? It isn't USA customary or UK imperial units. Those have been defined according to metric units for over sixty years.

@hjk101 I'm not sure what point you think you're making, but note the important line from the link you give:

    > Since the International Yard and Pound Agreement of 1959, one foot is defined as 0.3048 meters exactly.

So, as I said, USA customary and UK imperial units have been metric derived units for over sixty years now.

@NotJeckel having it fixed to someone's specific foot does not mean that it isn't used. 0.3048 isn't exactly a decent conversion to work with and don't get me started on the ⅓ yard bit.Why the fuck not just use metric units.
Prevents a lot of mistakes like the notorious

I guess this crap is what the OP is dealing with.

@NotJeckel There are multiple different incompatible definitions of how long a foot is, one of them is defined as 12 * 25.4 mm.
