I just had my first "Microsoft you have a virus on your computer" scam call today and I managed to waste 29 minutes of their time, collect 4 numbers to report and call the guy and asshole in the end.

I told them I have Linux and they still wanted to convince me, that my Windows has a virus.

@WildOrangutan They're quite obviously following a script, especially if the language is not English. I'm in between spite and pity for them..

Sort of along those lines. Whenever I'm online and there's a 'free' trial, I try to get a contact email in wh. I say, "Since the trial is a free one but you need a credit card number, I'm sure the CEO wouldn't mind my using his or hers?"

The problem though is those phone numbers are like temporary.

I get lots of spam calls, the numbers are always local and random... I never answer the phone unless I know the number or had caller id.

Otherwise goes to Google voice and I get a transcript.... So many car insurance ones about a car I don't own...

Use a dialer that has spam protection guys. Google's Phone app does an amazing job at filtering scam calls.
