    I don't think they realize the dangers that this product poses.

    Imagine it.

    The year is 2029. Copilot Jet has been released. The PO at work has just completed three new products they were talking about last week.

    It's now your job as the Sr integrations expert to integrate them into the core product. You are the only member of your team. You used to work with a team of devs, but most were let go a few years ago due to economic pressures and the lack of work left for them when the PO decided to get trained on using copilot.

    All day long, you read code. You don't write it, you only read it.

    You fill in some configurations to connect the new services up to the platform. Click, "deploy" and watch the app monitor that was setup for you.

    You wait. One, two, three, six hours. You go home, sleep, wake up, go back to work. Now you just sit, and watch the monitor for alerts... This is your job, the only job.

    @sariel You know I wouldn't even be mad if in 2029 dependency issues are solved automatically.

    The rest is not gonna happen though. All it takes is a bunch of bots feeding bullshit code to Copilot so it breaks production everywhere if people use it blindly. Or go a step further and watermark all your code and then sue Microsoft each time you find a watermark in Copilot output.

    Anything in whole or in part without credit to the original author or the original license is breaking the law...

    @sariel Yes, they are. But as we can see with the Google vs. Oracle court case similarities in the code may not be enough. If you have a unique watermark it's undeniable, and using a license that explicitly forbids use as AI training data avoids those bullshit arguments which compare the AI to a human who read some code.

    Of course that doesn't make it much easier to sue Microsoft. But I think the shady ways they're running this makes them vulnerable to the copyright counterpart of patent trolls. One can hope.
