@IntrusionCM purpose of the whatever version of a tree data structure I made was to allow storing data objects by a lengthy string key like a directory or filename or a shasum

It works very very fast for retrieval and storage :)

Much much faster than a list

@IntrusionCM I use the structure which I know is comp sci 101 to compare contents of files quickly and existing filename duplicates etc

You can create multiple structures using references to the same object to create a species of indexes quickly
