as long as it takes for you to learn it enough.
What's "enough" - that's up to you to define -
1. css is not programming
2. css and html serve two different purposes, they're not a part of any kind of skill ladder or anything, you don't need to learn one to "graduate" to the other one.
3. i recommend starting with html though, because if you don't know that, many things in css won't make much sense.
4. if you find even html to be difficult, then programming (even though html isn't programming either) isn't for you. -
irene33922yThere is more to know than one person can practically learn so you never really learn something and move on. You learn enough to do what you need to do and look for answers that you don’t have.
I would suggest courses because they curate the initial learning steps. Even knowing how to start is challenging. -
I would recommend the frontend aspects of freecodecamp as good teaching material since:
1. Neither HTML or CSS are programming, and CSS, they both complement each other, and have syntactical constructs, but they are not programming.
2. Learning through a course will give you a chance to look at the bigger picture.
If you want to focus on web design by means of this two then by all means, they can be a very lucrative career path and there really is a shortage of CSS experts (it ain't programming, but that does not mean it is easy) -
Well, about three. Maybe 4 if you're really not getting it. But make sure you learn the HTML programming language very well as that is what data scientists use and they make much money.

RichardH572yHow are you using CSS without HTML? Are you just reading and not actually using it? I learned HTML, CSS, and some PHP on a long weekend. You don’t have to learn every single thing. Just enough so you’re familiar with it and you can at least get through the basics. The rest you can look up whenever you need it.

Learn C first. CSS is an advanced form of C, and it stands for “C Super Special”. Once you learn CSS, you can graduate to HTML!

If you’re really doing this maybe learn html first , then css.
And neither of them are programming
