@byIcee Telegram has a web version as well as a desktop app. And you don't need to have your phone to be connected to the internet to be able to use them, unlike Whatsapp.

Telegram doesn't do "security through obscurity". MT-Proto is publicly available for criticism.
Go figure if WhatsApp doesn't have backdoors or hasn't ever had any breach.. That'd be more like security through obscurity.

PS: even though I use Telegram, I am not saying it's perfect in any way; tradeoffs exist all the time, and for all apps alike. You just choose what floats your boat.

@zshulu whatsapp was based on signal protocol, but we don't know what Facebook has done with it. That is the problem with closed source as you said
