I was looking to purchase an Apple Mac Studio with M1 Ultra 20-Core CPU | 48-Core GPU with 64GB of ram for $3,999. My friend said I can build a something way faster and cheaper if I go with a PC. Sounds great except for having to build it.

Building PCs is so much fun, I'd go nuts with a 4k budget on mine.

I have an old Mac mini and MacBook Air that are enough if I need to do some development. My latest computer is a self built pc with Ubuntu. If it’s been a while since you built a computer on your own it can sound overwhelming especially because a lot of standards have changed lately but you can talk with people, hear their opinions consider your needs and so on.

It depends on what you need to do. If you really need such expensive Mac, it would mean you work in an environment where someone else should pay for your computer (movie making, highly tailored Mac applications…). It all depends on your needs.

Pc stores in my country build it for 20-50€. That should be in budget
