Pretty accurate. I remember a teammate demo'ing our first tiny LAN - 3 machines - at big bank. It was really cool. Ingrained in my memories.

xanathor4118yI remember doing my first PC LAN (long after my first Atari ST Midi-LAN to play midimaze) with 3 PCs put on planks & trestles. My friend's gf kicked the leg with the hoover and the pc towers and the CRTs fell like a fucking avalanche of domino shits on the ground.. I thought I would cry. We put everything back and plugged the electricity back on... Absolutely no problem, they booted without any pb. Those were the days.

Hell ya! My best memories are from when I shared a house with a bunch of other geeks. We'd clear off the ping-pong table and fill it with pcs with, still with big fat CRT monitors. Weekend long Unreal Tournament, Warcraft, Battlezone 2...
There was a pool and a barbeque outside. We knew it was a success when we had to all pitch in to buy ANOTHER 8-port network hub. -
bioDan56228ybe me a kid in the 90's in a LAN party.
> play quake on LAN
> trade warez with strangers
> mom calls sayin "wtf?! you overstayed and supposed to be at home hours ago!! "
> follow my PC cables to disconnect them from endpoints and stash thrm.
> pick up mouse + keyboard + monitor + CDs + computer rig.
> set a BIOS password on friends PC.

kraator4118yI see you didn't have to mess around with 10BASE2 ethernet where one guy with some dirt cheap NIC could screw the whole party (or split it in two groups).
Also those "Alright I got to go" "DON'T UNPLUG THAT CABLE NOW!" moments 😁 -
In very old computer without I made a LAN of two computers with a serial cable. It was enought to play some games like aoe2
