My partner got her credit card transactioned with about USD 500 from another continent.

On a card that had been shut down ten (10!) years ago.

The banks first statement :
Your account hadn't been closed down properly.
You're liable because it's your account.

The cheek they have.

    Thx for the reminder, mate.

    I'd say whoever didn't close the account properly would be the one liable.

    Yea.
    It's come to a full blown investigation with the feds and Co.
    We definitely haven't been over for a few years and had not communication whatsoever that this account were still open.
    Despite WA being the place we had been to. The transaction just doesn't belong to us at all.

    "Your account hadn't been closed down properly."

    response: "my account hasn't been used in 10 years. I'll see you in court for the lost interest on the money.'

    @Wisecrack
    AND it hadn't been shut down properly by the bank's administration. Not a chance for us to know or act.
