Bro, if it's their first time using Git, send them a Git & Github course to watch. They there to learn from you, I assume.

Guys you don't understand the problem. "Tried everything" should always include typing the instruction into Google. This is the most basic principle of problem solving in the 21′st century.
I'm surprised as well but this apparently still requires explaining. Notably, people with shit grades tend to be better at finding information they weren't given in my experience. I think we need to fix our schools a bit. -
@lorentz yes, less focus on what is in my pants and more focus on what is in my head.

If they’re willing to learn, teach them.
The measure of a man is not what they know, but how much they’re willing to learn. -
@lorentz
The unhealthy focus on sexuality rather than learning skills.
Can they code their way out of a paper bag? -
@zlice Actually a great idea, I think I'll recommend following a convoluted but complete project setup document as hiring criteria.

To be fair, it's annoying GitHub doesn't include the 'git clone' part in the copied URL... everyone else does it! (Perhaps the one thing that atlassian does right, hehe)

@lorentz I'd argue that the root of the problem here is the lack of understanding what a terminal is. They demonstrated that they don't have a clue what else a terminal is used for, other than cloning git repos. They were so clueless that they were way too far from knowing how to ask the correct question.

Hazarth95032yThey have a degree in compsci and never used git? that's suspicious, We used git in Uni (granted, a lot of people were very confused by it. but they learned). What even are schools anymore.

@Hazarth In uni, we learned OOP with Cincom Smalltalk and I only barely remember something resembling a version history graph built into the VisualWorks IDE. Don't think git was ever covered outside of optional seminars.

junior: right clicked on the repository, 'Copy link address' then paste it into the terminal
