@dotenvironment I mean I have a rather short patience for people who lose their job when they were previously earning literally 5x my salary with the same skillset... i mean yeah it sucks but no matter where you work everyone is at risk of getting fired outside of their control.

Imagine living in the richest country in the world and "panicking" that you've lost your job, let alone a software job. give me a fucking break man

@fullstackclown english is not my first so by "short patience" , you mean you don't like if some dev earning 5x than you in richest country of the world looses their job and whines about it?

well you can block/mute those people.

i personally feel bad for them . no matter where one lives or how much they earn, most of the people are just 6 months away from begging for food. rich person's spend/debt is also lavish, while poor/middle person simply don't save enough.

panicking is natural if one day you wake up knowing your source of income will be over in 2 months, you might have to go back to your homeland, and meanwhile your emi/debt/daily expenses stay as it is. i personally haven't experienced a layoff, but i think i might panic too

All true, but like I said, essentially everyone is in that boat in the US (actually it's something I don't like about the US, a two-week notice before leaving entirely, that's barely any time at all!)

In many countries in Europe, the notice period is 1-2 months!

But still, this is the ebb and flow of large companies, and it's bound to repeat itself again in the future. Buyer (or at least worker!) beware!
