do you guys have problem with not receiving the proper tools for work where you live? here in brazil it seems like a given that companies won't provide good software and hardware for workers

No. $work provided hardware (MacBook Pro) and software, which was nice of them, but at the same time they require us to use them.

I loathe macs, and I’m none too happy with RubyMine either.

In their words: “hardware and licenses are cheap compared to payroll.”

Been working with my own machine for a while now. Smaller companies generally struggle to afford equipment, but there's no excuse for big companies.

    Hahahaa proper tools

to work from home get a shitty laptop with hdd, 4GB RAM and Intel i5-520M CPU

If you want shit to get done you have to ssh into office first into globally exposed server and then into your work machine Databases are just locally available

Learn and train AIs without GPUs (not a single machine has a GPU in our company)

No Project Plan, no plan at all, no architectures or structures are used

Oh and for the future we will use outdated nuc computers which have 2 Core Singlethreaded Processors because we consume too much eLEcTriCity

You won’t find any sympathy here. This is a place full of people who use vi, arch and assembly language just to piss everyone off.

If you have Notepad, you are “too fancy”.

I had the choice of mac or Windows. I'm the only one in the engineering team who chose a mac
