@Torbuntu I have friends like that, they pass me comments like you just sit at a computer all day. My only comeback to that is my pay check is bigger than yours or your on your feet all day so..
I do find it hard when my parents don't get behind me but I guess that's just them... -
Why must you care about their opinion so much? Are you trying to get them to financially support your apps? If not, just carve your own path, it's your life. And if you are - then you should not be frustrated with it and just find another way to finance yourself; they've already raised you and don't owe you that.

SSDD47608y@benline not being an arse - genuine question; why does it matter what your parents think? My parents have no idea what I do for a living, they're just happy that I have a nice life.
-
@Re-cursing I see your point and no I don't need them to support me financially but it would be nice for them to at least try and change there view.
One example, I reached a huge milestone in downloads and was over the moon, I have nothing physical from that only Analytics, it was nothing to them.
May I add I'm the only one in the friendly line in a Dev world all others are in the food or transport industry.
When I try and explain that the system that clocks them in and out is developed by people like myself they just don't get it. -
@GigaMick well I guess it sort of does to me.
I have stayed focused and left them out of it for years now but I always say that it's the way I explain it to them that might be why. They think I sit at a computer and just click a mouse honestly. -
@benline have you tried showing them the code and explaining parts of it? I did that with my parents because they didn't understamd a thing and now they are more appreciative towards devs and software in general
-
SSDD47608y@benline I think that's what most people who aren't developers think. I think maybe you need to just accept that non devs don't really get what we do and never will. If they were that way inclined they would already be more in our world without having to be convinced.

I would like to ask for some advice, thanks for your time in advance.
I've made a few applications over the last few years that were at first side projects. Right now they are doing quite well but could do way better if I put all my time into them (currently working in a agency)
My parents are still in the 90s when it comes to the internet so they never get behind any of my projects or they just pass it off as fluff.
I've showed my Dad my Analytics and what not and because it's not money it's nothing to him.
Any advice on how I deal with parents still living in times before the modern internet & make them see my stuff for what it is?.
Thanks
