@linuxxx I'm thinking a brain with four horse legs..

@sam9669 The name is Brainonhorses not BrainOnHorseLegs
  • 5
@coldfire oh damn, you are right, now I'm thinking a brain sitting on a horse like a human
  • 5
@sam9669 Yeah was imagining exactly that....

i was particularly referring to the collective of OS built upon the kernel. And to some extent , they r Linux.
Linux is not a single Os i know that. It is one of the most amusing things we find in the tech world.

@coldfire thank you so much for understanding! 😁
  • 3
@linuxxx it is actually related to speed like imagining my brain to run as if it is on horses. If you got thatπŸ˜…
I like to think about it.
  • 4
@BrainOnHorses Ah right! Anyways, idk i always like to get into conversions through comments :)
  • 3
@linuxxx no problem, it's cool! :) Btw we can only get into conversation..not sure about conversion πŸ˜‚ I am from India :)

@kvsjxd Linus picked a marketable name, Stallman didn't, so he lost the crediting war. Harsh, but the reality is that GNU is a label only technical users will know about, and (fairly) calling it GNU/Linux just makes the OS less approachable to new users.

2 days learning Linux is enough to see If someone will continue learning or give up easily.

@krazycavin The question though, is how do you learn "Linux"? Even skipping past the whole "Linux is the kernel" thing, how do you learn an OS?

Any moderately intelligent person can learn to install a user friendly distro within an hour, and learn to do all daily tasks within another hour... especially considering most people really only use a webbrowser.

Learning how to set up cron tasks, use git, set up a shell profile, configure smb and iptables or use things like awk takes more time...

But then the question should be "how to learn to use all the common tools and subsystems of a Linux distribution within 2 days" — and I haven't met anyone who mastered half of it. I still google "how to manually create a systemd service" every time I want to do it.

He can learn in 2 days if he studied hard. 2 VENUS days that is. TROLOLOL πŸ˜†
