I'm thinking about using my rep to post a collab for a open source low powered (low powered if possible) motion trail cam app.

Only I have zero android experience (I am a nodejs/meteor/javascript dev by trade).

Shall I go for it and rely on others experience? or go for something nodejs based?

If you feel more comfortable with JavaScript, you can try Cordova.

@Olverine not sure if that would be appropriate if we want to keep a low footprint. Plus motion detection libraries might be a pain to interface with.

Can you get more in-depth on what your app will do?

    Yeah sorry,

So it will be made to turn an old android phone into a trail camera, so you can set it up in a certain location and it will record movement, hopefully wildlife.

If you type "trail camera" into Google you will see a freemium app, but that will simply record rather than motion detect to save battery. I am wondering if it is possible to use a reasonably efficient motion detection system to save battery.

Not sure if I can get the community to be enthusiastic enough to get on board with it
