pajaja17337yI have a long cable so I just guide it on the side. I actually commented just to tell you to get a better keyboard, the thought of typing on this all day is painful :(
-
anyhus7137y@pajaja it's not terrible but it's definitely nothing extraordinary. Probably worth considering
@programmingTrtl I don't have enough slack unless I move the computer closer which I might. -
Defi4NT14937yGet a male/female jack extension cord and tape it under the desk
You'll have plenty of room and no risk to yank it -
You can make the cable go sideways or up. I have a shelf above the monitor and the cable goes from there. The other best choice is bluetooth headphones.
-
@programmingTrtl Then charge them daily. Make it a part of your nightly routine. I've got a Bluetooth speaker that I make sure to charge nightly.
-
@jhh2450 but if your jamming out and then it dies is kinda a bummer sometimes
-
Physical Keyboards are overrated.
Use your mouse with on screen keyboard. Remap the buttons Ctrl alt tab etc. -
@programmingTrtl If you charge them daily and they die mid use, then they're likely a piece of crap and you got ripped off.
-
@Triskelion You trying to get arthritis before being 30? Because that sounds painful asf. Unless you are using a touch screen for the keyboard.
-
anyhus7137y@Makenshi they are Bluetooth but for some reason they only connect wirelessly to mobile devices, doesn't show up on my Raspbian or OS X.
@programmingTrtl the battery on mine last around 20 hours :)
@falmesino I have another screen on the right so I like having the three screens in a row
@Triskelion lmfaooo -
@jhh2450 In a few years our brain is connected, at that point I can delete these meat stick. And use a robot arm 😎
-
@Triskelion I was just gonna suggest get some NFL grade numbing medicine. Pretty sure they've got some of the strongest stuff there is. You don't have to feel your hand, just have to use it.
On a side note, is this actually effective and efficient? What's your WPM using this method? -
Kryptic677y@anyhus You can get a usb wireless bluetooth adapter. I got one for my set up a while back. It cost me around $2 usd on e-bay.
-
anyhus7137y@Kryptic I have one for my pi and my Mac has Bluetooth, I haven't spent a lot of time on it but after several failed attempts I gave up
-
@jhh2450 Yeah it is extremely efficient. In my youth i played alot of cs that got me thinking why not use that skill. i use my mouse for everything and wasd for movement of the typing cursor.
My wpm avarage is between 80 - 100 max speed 137 -
@bendulum
I have the opposite problem: extension cord is so long it gets stuck inside the desk chair wheels -
@anyhus either switch to Bluetooth headphones or you can get cable management stuff on Amazon for pretty cheap. I use these little sticky semi-spheres with spots where you can push in cables. Pretty handy for things like keeping your phone charging cable in place on your nightstand and stuff. Got a set of 9 of them with various numbers of cables supported (pieces from 1 to up to 3 cables handled) for 6 euros. Might be a cheap and good solution for you.

I usually am on my desktop, where I have everything hooked up through my computer > mixer > stereo; when I'm gaming, the cord for my headset bugs the hell out of me. It's worth it, though.
It'll fall on the floor and scare the shit out of me in the middle of the night.
Also, when I'm on my laptop, I'm generally near my desktop... the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 does not have good speakers.
{ sidenote: I can't even get the thing to work--I thought xfce hibernated, but apparently it could be a RAM seating issue, heating issue, or a few other things... it was just sitting on my lap and I thought it went to sleep... lemme know if any of you have encountered this! } -
@bendulum But attaching headphone wires to the desk constrains movement too much.
Wireless is indeed the way to go... as soon as you can wirelessly power them and Bluetooth has died a horrible death. -
bendulum8907y@bittersweet I have mine sitting on the corner tL of the desk, pc being next to it and when I need them I put them on, cable free (not taped to the desk) sits on my lap, then I put them back.. Easy peasy
-
anyhus7137yThe stupid headphones are amazing but I've never been able to connect them via Bluetooth to my MacBook nor my pi Bluetooth dongle. I'll find a way
Does anyone else have this dilemma? Headphone cable is in the way whenever I type on my keyboard. It is such a small issue but it makes me fucking livid. Sometimes I tuck the wire behind mugs and water cups but it causes spills when I stand up and don't pay attention.
