Wal-Mart just asked if everyone could stop using AWS, because Amazon is a competitor of theirs. Thoughts?

First, there's the disclaimer at the bottom: "Disclosure: Jeff Bezos is an investor in Business Insider through his personal investment company Bezos Expeditions."

Also, Walmart would have a hard time convincing people to step away from the Amazon hosting buffet since there's no clear line to draw where ecommerce begins and ends. All kinds of 3rd party services and add ons in an eCommerce ecosystem use AWS. So it'll be a fool's errand for Walmart to hack away at so many leaves. Rather it should take an axe to the root of AWS and offer its own, better alternative.

@stackodev please... Please no... I don't even suggest Walmart enter the server hosting space.

@ObsidianBlk not that they actually _should_, just that if they truly believe in a free market without subterfuge and Machiavellian machinations (which they don't) then they should put their money where their mouth is and build a better system that people will naturally want to upgrade to from AWS. Otherwise, they need to STFU.

Well, if WM is that shallow, then they're pretty stupid. That like asking people to stop breathing air.

The part they are worried about is seeing the format of data from Retail Link and Amazon making a better product (please do btw).

Otherwise if someone opens "WM_Holiday_Sales_Plan-2017.xlsx" they are not suppose to their are legal issues that come from that.
