A guy (who is ending the same master degree as me) just launched his personal website saying he is webdesigner but used a very common bootstrap template. The future is good for this one 😂

Did he do custom CSS or add awesome code-behind to his website?

It just proves he knows what's hot with them kids

well i see your point, and im with you 100%... but unfortunately (for the rest of the world):
at the end of the day, the market sees/cares what it wants to see, not what you do. (in our case: "effort")

@Trey50Daniel just nothing. A normal scroll page with his picture in the beginning and his degree projects printscreens on phone screens.

@amjo just hope he doesn't steel a job from a good webdesigner! (not caring about me because I'm dev)

@pneves Well I used bootstrap in my personal site as well, but I put a lot of custom code into it.

@Trey50Daniel The irony isn't on the bootstrap! Beside I don't like it, I know it helps a lot and like I use Laravel for backend, I understand that someone use bootstrap for frontend design. But the irony here is he says is a webdesigner and used a template and don't even designed his own website. The irony is the template itself :p

@pneves Oh yeah. If he coded nothing that's pretty sad. one of my friends who is a dev is using Wix so it could be worse I guess? lol

Isn't that exactly what bootstrap templates are for?

@wiza yes. But a web designer should not use it. He should design his own (because he want's to show his capabilities).

@pneves I didn't think of it that way. You're right

Web devs often don't have time to work on their own site cuz they're always working on others' sites. I'd just want to get a portfolio site up quick and show off thru clients' sites

@kheftel That's because mime says "coming soon" for two years and I have always work.
but just to show my work I use platforms like behance and LinkedIn. I think that it's better to have nothing than anything that can make a possible client to think I just use a template.

Just seems like you never have time to update your own site, that's all I was trying to say
