Dude, don't be "big hat, no cattle". People want to see what you have done, not just what you know. That $500 a month job is doing that for you. Any job at this point is helping you look better for the next employer. They want someone who isn't an unknown in the work force.

I worked fast food for 2 years. I learned a lot about working with people and working under pressure. That experience translated into getting other technical jobs. From those technical jobs I was able to get an engineering job. Now I have a software engineering job. All that experience matters.
