Today my cousin is getting his first computer. I am just confused, either I should make him use linux or windows on it. Suggestions are appreciated.

@sachin38 you might think that, but it's still his choice. If you decide for him the you're just perpetuating the cycle of "who thinks who is right just because so have an opinion on what's better"

I'd say Linux of course but hey look at my username 😅 but with Linux you can experiment around more imo so yah

My first computer was Windows, then Linux and currently using Mac OS, he will find his own path.

Linux is the best he will figure out some day.

Encourage to learn new things but don't force him.

Show him both Windows 10 and Linux and let him choose Windows 10!

The good choice would be to get him used to stuff that's free and productive.

The honest choice would be to let him use Windows 10 because of a bigger entertainment infrastructure.

Because if he doesn't love scripting and you put him on Linux, he will not like computers. With Windows however, games and game modding can wake another type of love.

The question says cousin but you tagged it with brother... which is it?

make him use whatever you prefer to support since you will be the slave to go when he will have any problems

@Microsoft I got him Windows 10, haven't shown him linux yet. I'll show linux every single day from now on until he figures out the about customizability and freedom he is missing by using windows!

@linuxxx maybe I should let him use what everyone else are using for a while, I'll introduce linux later. Experience with windows will come in handy when arguing with Windows Fanboys! 😀

I guess he wants something which works and he can play games on it...he'll probably need MS Office too so go with windows...
