In your experience, what’s the difference between an analyst developer and developer? Does an analyst developer program less and is more client facing?

Analyst developer is more anal about the development

I was a web designer, web developer, software developer, engineer, technical consultant, and software consultant, only roughly related to the job description. I remember an interview where I insisted, just to be sure, that I would actually write code as a consultant. I even had direct customer contact, but other technical consultants didn't, while at another company, consultants didn't code at all, but engineers did. I also remember when I was an engineer, and a new manager caused a lot of confusion when he announced that the current software might be "overengineered" and we all started fearing for our jobs.

Never heard of "analyst developer". Is this something new?
