I am guessing that a view requires a certain percentage of the video to be viewed to count. Could also be bots.

msdsk31792yThere are some people who i know pump out quality content so even without seeing all of it i can hit like.

Probably has to do with replicas for stats servers not having converged or settled up.

YouTube is as janky as it gets when it comes to their content and stat distribution servers. I never got a full comment section where every comment actually loads in full when requested and subcomment counts actually match or are lower than final loaded subcomment count when there are more than ten comments in total. Not a single time and i use YouTube's comment section extensively for years now.

@msdsk
Just as it is with views and such.
Stats are kept in local replicas, and periodically synced.
The divergence is never business critical, so they don't care, and rightly so. -
@msdsk That is what i thought first. But often comments load only half - you see the more button, but it does nothing and a full reload often leads to the same situation. So i guess, YouTube just botched their comment section real hard somehow. It is like that for years.
No conspiracy, no evilness - just ordinary botchery. -
I guess view number aren't important and are cached. While likes need to be nrt
