What laptops are you using for university?
I think about getting the HP Spectre x360 15', so I will also have the ability to take notes with a pen on the device. I guess that will be quite useful because I want to try to use paper as less as possible... Let's see how that will work out.😂

Don't laugh. Ehm... an Asus X206HA 11,6" with Xubuntu 17.04 installed (Because XFCE by far was the most suited for this laptop).
It has a 32Gb eMMC storage, 4Gb of RAM, running on an Intel Atom Cherry trail x5. Because of this I have no sounds on my linux because the audio card (CX2072X from Conexant) wasn't recognized so I'm waiting for the patch to be deployed anytime soon for the main kernel.

About taking notes without paper: take a look at the Rocketbook Everlast. It has 32 pages where you write. Then you scan them and save them as picture or PDF in many places. I've had it for some time and it really works well.

I highly recommend Lenovo Thinkpad E570... Cheap + decent configs. See on their website... 😁

Coworkers at my old job and a few friends at my college used to use surface pros 3.

Personally, I would rather take notes on paper. I feel like it is easier to open up specific notes and organize them as needed when studying. Digital notes are tough to take 3 pages from one class, 2 from another, and 5 from another. They are kind of stuck in the order that they were written.

Just my personal opinion.

I'm going for the aero 15 and putting in an additional 500 GB SSD and 16gb ram.

I print my lecture slides in note form and keep it old school. If I have my laptop open I will inevitably her side tracked.

It's powerful, a pleasure to code on and for a 15inch it's pretty light and had decent battery.

I use a Lenovo y510p, but I can't recommend it with its non-existent battery life, unless you're okay with having a charger on you 😂

I have a Lenovo Miix510. It's a Surface pro clone. i7, 8GB, 256 SSD, pen. All day battery life at office. Use it mostly for note taking. No more paper.

2008 Thinkpad W500 with SSD running Linux Mint. I can get 6 hrs of battery life if I want to.
